Description
This was a blessed little surprise I got at the beginning of this year. I waltz into my paleontology class and find out the entire school has instructed our professors to no longer use the term "BC" because it stands for "Before Christ." So now, they use the term "BCE" meaning "Before Common Era." It's the exact same time period, just a different name.
Naturally, I was so... fucking... overjoyed....
STOP MESSING WITH MY FUCKING TEXTBOOKS YOU OVER SENSITIVE LITTLE LIBERAL PUSSIES!!!! If you don't believe in Christ, FINE! Just think of it as when it is believed this "fictious" person was alive and leave the rest of us alone! I'm not even a Christian and I'm making a big deal out of this! I'm a very strong Christian myself, but I believe that such terms as "B.C. / Before Christ" should be removed from public schools. There are private Christian schools (like the one I attended for both middle and high school) for a reason.
It's not messing up history. It's simply using a religiously-neutral term since not all American children in our public school system are Christian. With as conservative as you are, whether you're Christian or not, I would assume you'd absolutely hate it if we used an Islamic phrase of some sort in our school system.
